The doll is perhaps humankind's oldest toy which serves as a source of attraction not only to the kids but even to adults. This factory/museum, founded by Khunying Tongkorn Chanthavimon in 1956, displays a huge collection of dolls.
Bangkok Dolls was created by Tongkorn with the help of about twenty artisans. Dolls on display reflect eight types of categories: khons and khon masks, village life, hill tribe people, dolls for children, puppets, dolls from other countries and dolls made to order. All these dolls are handcrafted and represent Thai culture.
The museum displays a large collection of famous International dolls from all over the world. Bangkok Dolls have been awarded prizes internationally, that include First Prize and the Honorary Gold Peacock Feather Award from The 3rd International Folklore Dolls Biennial in Cracow, Poland.
Tongkorn has zealously put in lots of efforts to create these historical figures, classical Thai dancers and peasants of Thai countryside with all the traditional costumes. These works of art are internationally known and admired for their charm, authenticity, fine sewing and construction.
