The Jim Thompson House is a museum in itself which features silk, Asian artifacts, antique Thai arts and crafts. Jim Thompson was awarded the Order of the White Elephant, a decoration bestowed upon foreigners for having rendered exceptional service to Thailand. Set in picturesque surroundings, it is a feast for the eyes.

Jim Thompson was a prominent businessman who is famous for revitalizing the Thai silk industry. The house has access available through a guided tour. Tours lasting 45 minutes are conducted in many languages. The house is famous for silk, Asian artifacts, antique Thai arts and crafts. It is visited by over 400 people a day and serves as a museum showcasing Thai architecture and art. It's a beautiful teak house with lots of interesting art objects, sculpture and everyday items used 40 years ago.

The house is located along one of Bangkok's few remaining canals and was assembled from six smaller houses combined into one. The house is entirely made of teak and houses hair ornaments to stone sculptures. Guided tours show you around the house which also contains a coffee shop in the delightful garden. Thailand owes a lot to Jim for reviving the Thai silk industry.
